Ice Arena General Manager

 

 

Description:  The Winnipesaukee Skating Club (WSC) is a non-profit 501(C)(3) that owns and operates the Laconia Ice Arena  in Laconia NH.  The General Manager is responsible for the daily operation of this arena.This position reports directly to WSC Board of Directors, ensuring the overall satisfaction of rink customers, rink membership and works in conjunction with the Facilities Manger to insure the day to day operations of the rink. The General Manager is responsible for the day to day financial activities including, food services, the planning, coordination and obtaining rink advertising banners and revenues, rink events and associated fundraising packages. This position requires the individual to be sociable and friendly, overseeing all requests and issues of member clients as well as creating and maintaining great working relationship with clients. This position is also responsible for marketing, selling and coordinating all groups and birthday parties for the Ice Rink as well as maintaining constant communication with the Ice Rink Facilities Manager. There is a revenue goal assigned to this position.

 

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Creates and oversees the budget for Arena Operations.
  • Oversees the budget for the Junior Hockey Program.
  • Main Contact for Membership Relations.
  • Be present for all WSC events at Arena & WSC Board Meetings.
  • Oversee immediate and long term capital fund raising.
  • Devolop, implement and maintain budgets.
  • Communicate Event Details to Membership and Rink Customers.
  • Coordinate Grids and provide to food service.
  • Plan and implement VIP Packages for various events.
  • Actively involved in Group Sales efforts to raise revenue.
  • Maintain good relations with clients - maintaining contact weekly.
  • Coordinate, market and sell all birthday parties, groups, and skating programs for Ice Rink.
  • Create new ways to generating new business to reach monthly/yearly goals.
  • Cold Calling for new business.
  • Mail out special offers and fill phone orders to clients.
  • Work closely with the Board and Facilities Manager on various events.
  • Create new and fun ideas to offer clients as special VIP corporate gifts/amenities.
  • Oversee patron use of facility in conjunction with Operations Manager.
  • Oversee the concessions, Pro Shop and Food services.
  • Drive the Zamboni and be familiar with and participate in rink facility operations.
  • Facilitate off season revenue sources.
  • Be available to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and related professional & administrative experience.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective supervisory ability.
  • Strong public relations skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Computer Skills.
  • Qualifications to work in sports organization or sports programing.
  • Excellent Fiscal Management Skills.
